Art has always been a part of my life. This is due in part to my mother; she showed me the benefits of art and the great healing properties it can bring to the lives of others. My mother was a nurse, but in her spare time she loved to create art. I can remember as a child, my mother and I would create projects together. Sometimes we would create crepe paper flowers and take them to residents in the nursing home where she worked. The flowers seemed to blossom and bring so much joy to the residents. Their faces would light up, I loved it. From that point, I knew art had to be a part of my life forever to help bring joy to others. However, my passion for art developed after my mom passed away in 1999. She was my the key which unlocked my connection and love for creating art. So when I lost her I knew I had to continue creating art to keep our connection together strong.
Helping and healing others through art is my goal here on earth and I am so excited to share my creations with the world. When I first began professional licensing, my body of work focused mainly on cloth dolls, then one day I discovered paper clay. My first piece was a patriot elephant which I still have today. I just loved the versatility of clay. Since that first experience with clay I fell in love with it and haven’t looked back.
My style of art can be described as eclectic with an influence of whimsy and the appeal of Tim Burton. I like to mix Halloween and Christmas themes, clash colors, and finish them with a splash of glitter and vintage finds. I love using found objects and vintage papers when I create my art pieces. All my pieces are hand painted using acrylics and sometimes antique them to give them an aged appearance. It takes about 3 days to finish a piece. It all depends on how much time I have to work on a piece during the day.
I mostly sell my pieces at local art shows for a more complete list of upcoming shows, visit my blog at www.artful-spirit.blogspot.com. You can also signup for my emails, and I will notify you when I will have new pieces available for purchase.
I believe we should make art not war. It should be shared with others. Life is short and should be enjoyed. When some purchases one of my art pieces I hope to brighten their day.
If you have a passion for creating art then, DO IT!! Don’t let outside forces stop you from reaching for something you believe in and brings you joy. You can’t be afraid to fail when it comes to art. Art appreciation has many eyes, so it can be loved or hated by many. However, when you create art, it has to be because you love it regardless of what someone else thinks of it. You have to allow the healing factors to run its course. If your intent is good, you will prosper. Remember prosperity comes in many forms, it doesn’t always mean monetary abundance but it can also mean an ideal opportunity falling into your lap or insight into old things viewed in a new light. You have an abundance of whatever you possess. If you're a creative person, then to be a prosperous artist means you have an abundance of talent so your wellspring of creativity never dries up. Whenever you're generous with your abundance, it will attract even greater abundance and creates an undeniable cycle. So, CREATE ART and share your passion with others, you can inspire the world around you.
